Learning Difficulties

Having difficulties learning, whether with reading, math or other subjects is very painful for children and their parents. Most help offered consists of didactic methods; adapted learning material and extra practice sheets to gain insight in the subject. In other words, more reading and more math. In a number of cases the challenge seems to be resolved. However, there doesn’t seem to be a solution. The child doesn’t seem to “get it”. Another approach is necessary.

BSM- de Jong can be just that approach. Providing a unique and successful approach to Dyslexia and ADHD, BSM offers help for the following challenges:

  • Dyslexia
  • Reading comprehension
  • Mathematical difficulties
  • Dyscalculia
  • Problems with spatial orientation
  • Automation difficulties
  • Memory difficulties (Difficulty retaining what has been learned)
  • Bad handwriting

Learning is a process in which information is taken in and processed by the senses. Observing, processing and acquiring a skill is controlled by our nervous system, which we can view as the organ that enables us to learn.
The ability to learn and the behavior of a child depend on the quality of this “organ”, which affects our learning potential. The learning potential is impacted by the close relation between sensory development, motor development and the autonomic nervous system.

When treated with BSM-de Jong we see improvement in the quality of the central nervous system resulting in an improved learning potential. The individual will thus be able to make better use of his or her intellectual capacities.

Developmental challenges

As a parent you may feel that your child is not like other children you see around you. Your child never reaches developmental milestones when others do. Some milestones he does not reach at all.
As you look for help you will often embark on a long journey going from professional to professional before you have a diagnosis of what your child is being confronted with.

A difficult period begins after the diagnosis has been given. Who will see your child for the beautiful person he is and not his challenges or deficits? What decisions should you take immediately, what can wait? What therapies should your child receive, what extra help should be given? What do you have to accept, what can you change. Who can you address yourself to, who can you turn to for assistance and help?

BSM-de Jong can be that address for you and your child. Our goal is to help children with developmental delay reach their full potential by treating the cause of the neurological delay rather than the symptom.

BSM-de Jong provides help with the following problems:

  • Learning difficulties

Behavioural Issues

Every child tries his best. You as a parent try to help and understand your child as best as you can. However, if your child’s neural system does not function optimally, doing his best will never be good enough. Behavior, as BSM-de Jong defines it, is the sum total of activity in the brain cells. Every brain area has its own specific role to play. Disturbances of this balance can cause a wide range of problems. BSM-de Jong restores this balance and in doing so regulates the behavior of your child.
