The typical child develops rapidly. Within a period of 18 years he grows from a fetus into an independent, aware young adult. Neurological developmental milestones succeed one another at high speed. Ranging from learning to walk to a mature body, from learning to talk to being able as a young adult to navigate the “real” world. We should not be surprised that sometimes these milestones do not happen as typically as we expect. Sometimes we are confronted with learning, developmental or behavioral problems in the children we care for. BSM – de Jong, short for Brain Stimulation Method – de Jong, can be beneficial in helping to overcome these difficulties. BSM – de Jong is an exciting and unique home-based therapeutic program, developed by Mrs. J.J.E. de Jong-Koutstaal of the Netherlands. Developmental experts have known for more than eighty years that movement enhances learning. Mrs. de Jong however added the theory that a presenting problem originates from a physical cause, a disturbance in the body, which can have a significantly negative effect on the development and performance of the nervous system. The source of the problem may vary. It can be biochemical, inherited, hormone based, caused by a partial restriction of neural transmission or originate during pregnancy and/or the birth process. Mrs. De Jong was able to develop a process, which identifies the cause of various malfunctions and outlined a method to influence the nervous system through touch, movement and guided movement. When a person performs this daily-individualized program, remarkable results can be achieved. | ||
